Electronic Bruckner

about

Austrian composer Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) is considered by many to be the greatest symphonist of all time, with his grandiose architectural construction of counterpoint, harmony and crescendos as brick and mortar where the sky is not the limit.
The quality I myself might emphasize in Bruckner's symphonies is what I would term as otherworldy. Rarely has an orchestra produced tones that sound so much like a story from a world beyond this one. It is barren (like the mountain world on the album art) but at the same time so human.
Perhaps this description puts the spotlight on the contrast that the established history writing has given the composer, as either an "oddball" or a "genius".
I care most about the ingenious side, and it has been a rewarding time to try to dress these massive symphonies in electronic colors. I have chosen the first movements from my two favorites, the fourth and seventh, also known as the "Romantic" and "The Lyric".
Prepare yourself for a journey into the unknown.
